CTRL_ABSENCE, solo show, presented in London with Fellowship, Nov 20-26, 2025.
CTRL_ABSENCE, presented at Fellowship in London from 20 to 26 November 2025, marks Skygolpe’s latest solo project and introduces the eponymous collection of digital works. The exhibition comprises twenty-one unique video pieces and four Baryta paper prints (70 × 50 cm), arranged along a pathway that links the two levels of the gallery. Together, these works explore our relationship with images, identity, and the threshold between presence and absence within artistic practice.
The silhouette, recurring motif throughout Skygolpe’s digital oeuvre, reappears here as a defining presence in the physical prints as well. In each work, this anonymous figure, stripped of identity and central to the artist’s ongoing investigation, becomes a neutral and universal form that does not describe but rather evokes.
Skygolpe refers to this figure as an existential symbol, a condition to inhabit. Within this suspended presence, the viewer is invited to recognize a reflection of themselves. The creative process behind CTRL_ABSENCE unfolds across multiple media and materials: from urban photographs taken during the artist’s early years in London more than two decades ago to more recent imagery; from discarded objects and debris to the painterly textures of his canvases; and ultimately to digital manipulation and artificial intelligence. All of these sources converge in a continuous flow, in a method, if it can be called that, that merges disparate media into an open, evolving process central to his practice.
The video works on the upper floor develop within a continuous visual field where the aforementioned images float, fracture, and reassemble in loops choreographed through AI-generated motion.
Their pacing alternates between acceleration and suspension, producing a vision without a single focal point, one composed instead of voids, accumulations, and subtractions.
Within this ongoing stream of digital collage, the interplay of elements gives rise to a visual landscape in perpetual transformation.
