AI PORTRAITS
AI Portraits is a new project in which five years of the artist’s own texts and images are collected and structured into a single dataset. The archive functions as an active agent. Using artificial intelligence, it produces new works that suggest a convergence between the artist’s dream state and subconscious imagination.

The project consists of digital outputs, a textual layer, and a physical component developed through fine art printing. Together, these elements form a hybrid interface between the digital and physical dimensions.

The project is presented here as the beginning of an ongoing exploration, with further insights and developments to be shared in the near future.
This approach of using archival materials produced over several years of work reflects a broader cultural condition in which artificial intelligence, only recently, has begun to operate as an interpretative mechanism.

In this context, the logic of the dataset becomes central: meaning emerges through accumulation, correlation, and recombination, shaping new forms of authorship and narration within Skygolpe’s work.In this way, personal material becomes the foundation of a generative process that continuously reshapes identity, memory, and representation.

Collapses the Boundaries Between Digital and Physical

(Artnet, 2022)
“These works are a unified synthesis, melding digital and physical dimensions to challenge and reshape the viewer’s perception. The most significant achievement for me has been the realization that, for the first time in history, I’ve established the importance of an NFT certificate for a physical work of art in a relevant context such as Christie’s New York. I believe there is incredible potential in the digital ecosystem for all artists who work in the physical realm.

Regarding future endeavors, I intend to persist in the development of the “Paint on Pixel” series. My aspiration is to curate exhibitions that possess the capability for international exposure, thereby widening the reach of this seminal collection. This step aims not merely to extend the geographic scope but also to deepen the intellectual and cultural dialogue surrounding the intersection of digital and physical.” (...)

Collapses the Boundaries Between Digital and Physical

(Artnet, 2022)
The “Paint On Pixel” series marked a radical evolution in the artist’s practice, as it was a departure from the digital world of NFTs he first garnered wide-spread attention from, and juxtaposed with other recent creative lines of inquiry in Skygolpe’s work, the show will illustrate the experimental and boundary-pushing nature of his practice.

In conjunction with his new A.I. photographic works, regardless of whether a viewer hails predominantly from the world of digital art or traditional art, within the show one can trace both Skygolpe’s creative line of inquiry, and understand how they can, and perhaps should, be seen as complimentary rather than antagonistic as many have demed them to be.

Arranged with the discerning eye of Moscatello, “Third Dimension” promises to be a significant moment in the artist’s career.
